After being bullied from classmates over her weight, Egypt Ufele channeled those feelings into something beautiful.
Ufele began sewing clothes for her dolls before making unique pieces for people of all body types. The talented 10-year-old has made her way to New York Fashion Week, making her the youngest clothing designer at the event to design pieces for curvy models.
The fifth grader spoke to TODAY about her past experiences, stating, “I was bullied and they called me all kinds of names. One time I got stabbed by a pencil.” The tables have turned, Ufele explaining, “I turned negative attention into positive attention.”
According to her website, her clothing line, “Chubiline,” is “bringing Africa to America; one design at a time.”
