Classmates Support Cancer-Stricken Student By Shaving Their Heads

In an effort to show their support for 9-year-old Marlee Pack, who is battling cancer, 80 classmates, teachers and friends’ parents shaved their heads to show a sense of unity and solidarity.

Last year Pack was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of soft tissue, connective tissue or bone. She lost her hair after undergoing 40 weeks of chemotherapy and was finally able to return to Meridian Elementary School in Broomfield, Colorado.

Upon her return, her best friend, Cameron McLaughlin, led an event called, “Be Bold, Be Brave, Go Bald,” where they all participated in the hair-shaving event, raising over $25,000 for charity.

“I didn’t think that many people would shave their heads, but I feel good about going back to school and not being the only bald one,” Pack told Today.com.
