After Tierra Gray was evicted from her home for failing to make her rent payment, she and her two sons have been staying with friends, family members and members of her church community when she said she’d finally hit rock bottom.

Running out of options, Gray prayed for a miracle asking God to send her angel. She found herself seeking shelter for her and her two sons at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. She told local news station WLWT, “My kids are here sleeping inside of a jail lobby. I never thought I’d go through that, I mean, to that point. That right there was my breaking point.”

That morning, her prayers were answered. Deputy Brian Bussell noticed the family in need and decided he would act as their guardian angel. He paid for a hotel room for Gray and her sons for 10 days while they search for a place to stay. He also bought the family food and clothes.

Turns out the family won’t be needing the hotel for the full 10 days. With the help of Gray’s family and friends and Bussell’s connections, they were able to get an apartment for the family.

Gray tells WLWT, “There are good cops. They’re still out there. They’re still heroes to our children.”
