Inmates housed at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, S.D. get the chance to make a difference in their community with the help of the “Pedal Power From the Pen Program.” Each year about 1,300 bicycles are donated to the prison, in which inmates refurbish the bikes and return them back to non-profit organizations and churches which distribute the bikes to kids in need.
