Lady Gaga performed at the 88th Academy Awards, delivering a powerful and emotional message on behalf of sexual assault victims.

She sang “Til It Happens To You,” co-written by Diane Warren from the documentary The Hunting Ground, which covers sexual assault and rape on college campuses. Fifty sexual assault survivors joined Gaga on stage with the words “Not Your Fault” written in marker across their arms.

The performance had the audience in tears, resulting in a standing ovation for the moving presentation.

Gaga and songwriter Diane Warren were nominated for Best Original Song for the track. Although they didn’t take home the Oscar, their performance won over the audience and spread a powerful message to viewers world wide.

The 29-year-old singer posted a photo with the survivors captioning the snapshot, “Thank you for standing next to me on stage. Thank you for all the things you said, for listening to my story and sharing yours. I will never forget it. 50 survivors, so brave, relentless determination.”
