Pasco County Sheriff’s Department surprised a young boy whose dreams include becoming a part of law enforcement. Unfortunately, 7-year-old Spencer Holt, was diagnosed with a terminal illness and his timeline of fulfilling his dream has been shortened. Deputies got wind of Holt’s story and decided to make his wish come true, even if it was only for a day.
WFLA reports Holt always wanted a badge, to fight off zombies in particular. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Department organized a day full of fun for the young boy. Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco joined Holt, after his police escort from school, and told him, “You’ve got to have courage in the tough times and good times.” After chatting with Holt for a brief moment, a sergeant covered head-to-toe in camouflage came through the door pleading for Holt’s help. The sergeant claimed, “Zombies overran the jail today. We can’t hold them back! We need help.”
At that time, Nocco took Holt aside and said, “This is an important day. We need you to be brave, Spencer,” as he deputized his young officer. Students from local high schools joined in the action, playing zombies as Holt was given a plastic nerf gun.
Another surprise came when he entered a room to a group of dancing officers, showing off their moves to the song “Thriller.”
Holt’s mother told WFLA, “It’s nice because he spends a lot of his time in hospital, so for him to do something different and special and have fun, it’s nice.”
