Residents of St George, Ontario, Canada, banded together, deciding to celebrate Christmas early this year so that 7-year-old Evan Leversage could take part in the holiday.

Evan was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor five years ago and his cancer has recently spread. Doctors told his mother, Nicole Wellwood, Evan’s time was limited. She decided to celebrate Christmas early this year, to ensure Evan got to experience the holiday one last time.

Evan’s mother reached out to family members to see if they would join in celebrating the holiday early. Her cousins of course agreed, and went one step further, creating a GoFundMe page for the family to raise awareness for Evan’s condition and the family’s wish to celebrate Christmas early. The campaign, titled, “One Last Christmas,” has raised over $23,000 for Evan and his family and has helped reached thousands in the community, all ready to celebrate Christmas early with Evan.

Residents have put up string lights and gone all out with decorations. The town has even put together a Christmas parade featuring 25 floats and a Santa Claus. The parade will be this Saturday in St. George and will pass right by Evan’s front door.

Evan’s mother Nicole told CBC News, “Everywhere you look it’s Christmas. It’s more than I could have imagined.” She added, “It’s pretty crazy. A lot of people have really went above and beyond.”
