Transportation services Uber and Lyft are offering free rides for homeless veterans who seek transportation to job interviews.

The applications hope to make a difference on Veteran’s Day for America’s former military members by providing them complimentary transportation. The companies offered their services as part of the White House’s Joining Forces initiative which seeks to end veteran homelessness, according to the White House blog. The initiative aims to help veterans who are trying to find work by providing transportation to job interviews and other employment events and opportunities.

Both transportation companies are working toward the common goal of helping homeless veterans achieve employment. In a statement from Uber, the company plans to offer an estimated 10,000 free rides to former military members in need over the next year. Uber also created a way for others using their service to make a difference. On Veterans Day they will provide a $5 donation link that will go toward the initiative.
